In new light
The Treasures of the University
With our new magazine, SCHILLER, we are shining a new light on the University of Jena. Our University is on the move: we are opening up new spaces, forging new connections and showcasing hidden treasures. The new magazine highlights these developments and brings to light what shapes the University today.
The first issue therefore focuses on the university community. Research, teaching and knowledge transfer thrive on people who share ideas, work together, discuss, debate, learn and make new things possible. Our University community is diverse, international and, in the best sense of the word, dynamic.
The new magazine thus asks not only what’s new at the University of Jena, but also how diversity creates unity. It turns its attention to our community, to what fosters a sense of togetherness without erasing differences. For a vibrant university thrives not on uniformity, but on connection: between people, perspectives and disciplines; between past and future; between knowledge and responsibility.
In doing so, SCHILLER also speaks to the essence of our University’s motto: Light. Life. Liberty.—Connecting People and Ideas. It embodies a vision that resonates both within and beyond our walls. The magazine brings this vision to life through stories, perspectives and encounters. It connects people and topics, offers insights, and highlights what shapes our University as a community.
